Westbrook Station TOD

Matco Development proposed a new Outline Plan and Land Use Redesignation for 4.18 ha± (10.81 ac±) at 3500 17 Avenue SW, 1701 33 Street SW, 1651 35 Street SW, 1652 35 Street SW, and 49 Westbrook Green SW in the community of Rosscarrock. The proposed plan is an augmentation of a previously approved Outline Plan/Land Use Redesignation approved by Calgary Planning Commission in 2009. The proposed Outline Plan consolidates two blocks, relocates already approved Municipal Reserve and closes portions of two roads. These changes are necessary to realize the vision of Westbrook Station and the Westbrook Village Area Redevelopment Plan.

As File Manager I had to facilitate department meetings internally, review the planning aspects of the file, facilitate a public open house to hear comments from the community, negotiate with the applicant on matters needed to be addressed prior to recommendation to Calgary Planning Commission (CPC) and City Council (CCC), and ultimately providing a Report and Presentation to CPC. Unanimous approval from CPC was given to the Outline Plan, as well as at Calgary City Council. Construction on this project is to commence in 2015, taking 5-10 years for completion.
