Ford Plant Redevelopment Project

With the announced closure of one of the oldest Ford plants in the United States, the City of Saint Paul commissioned EDAW to conduct preliminary studies of how this site – which first made Model T cars – could transform into a new community in the historic Highlands neighborhood. Five development scenarios were conceived for further study to determine economic viability and opportunity. These scenarios ranged from a re-imagined light industrial campus to a high density transit oriented development utilizing the existing railroad corridor that currently serviced the site.

Option 1: Baseline - Reuse for Industry

Option 2: Mixed Use - Light Industrial/Flex Tech

Option 3: Mixed Use - Office/Industrial

Option 4: Mixed Use - Urban Village

Option 5: Mixed Use - High Density Urban Transit Village
